Great Ideas Made Simple When
The American HomeShop
Builds Four New Homes

Scott Phillips, host and producer of the popular how-to show The American Woodshop, brings you a second season of The American HomeShop with Suzy & Scott Phillips. Building upon the success of season one, this 13-episode series offers even more step-by-step views of the home building process with an emphasis on affordability. From decorating and putting the finishing touches on Stone Haven--the couple's dream home built in season one--to breaking ground on a truly affordable Forest retreat in Ohio; to a luxurious Mediterranean home with Virginia ledge stone reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright; all the way to post-Katrina New Orleans, where Scott & Suzy lend a hand on a Habitat for Humanity home, each 30-minute episode focuses on the planning, troubleshooting, and execution of the various steps entailed in the building of a new home from start to finish. Hosted by Scott Phillips and his wife, Suzy, the series focuses on their personal experiences as week-by-week viewers are lead through the joys and frustrations of building a home from the ground up.

This season promises to be even more exciting, as Scott & Suzy take on an ambitious schedule of completing four homes at once! Focusing on the latest in energy efficient innovations for conservation, affordability and comfort, viewers learn how to make great ideas simple to create by using the right products. From carpenters and stonemasons, to interior designers and re-modelers, the secrets of achieving a custom home look unfold as a diverse cast of characters lend their expertise to the various aspects of the home building process. From exterior lighting solutions to interior stone, wood and glass accents, The American HomeShop has it covered.

Picking up where season one left off, season two delves right into the creative world of interior design by adding the finishing touches to Stone Haven. Viewers learn designer tips and tricks as Suzy selects and installs decorative accents that truly make a house a home. They will "ooh and ah" as they learn how to custom-make a spectacular Art Deco entertainment center and join it with the latest in modern technology to create a unique focal point in the couple's family room. Scott creates custom wood floors and beautiful exotic wood accents to give even more luxury to Stone Haven's already majestic frame.

With a budget of $170,000, the couple's next project- The Forest Home- is truly an affordable retreat. Nestled in the picturesque woods of northern Ohio, Scott & Suzy join with contractor/home builder Matt Howell to break ground on this American Ranch-style home. Proving yet again that with the right know-how, you can fashion modest yet appealing accents - like Palladian windows and double gables-that can really upgrade the look and feel of any home.

A house upon a hill emerges as Scott & Suzy raise pre-cast "Superior" walls on a contemporary Mediterranean-style home in North-Central Ohio. Taking advantage of the breathtaking view of the lake, the couple designs and builds a 1,400 square foot walk-out basement in the back of the house, creating both beauty and function for the family. This five bedroom, five bath room home features Virginia ledge stone masonry that creates an exterior reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright.

As a native of Louisiana, Suzy was the likely mastermind for the American HomeShop crew's involvement in the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity project. While lending a helping hand to the storm-ravaged victims of Hurricane Katrina, Scott & Suzy show viewers the latest innovations in affordable home building, Habitat-style. Through interviews with the new home-owner families as well as the other onsite volunteers, Scott & Suzy offer a glimmer of hope by highlighting the good work that can be accomplished when people work together for the greater good. Once again, viewers see how smart designs and detailed plans can render decent, affordable shelter even under the toughest budget constraints.

For anyone considering embarking on such a project, no matter what their level of involvement, The American HomeShop is a must-see program due to the wealth of information that Scott and Suzy are able to relate throughout its 13 episodes. Whether it's selecting and preparing a home site or negotiating prices for goods and services, viewers have an opportunity to gain detailed knowledge of the issues and processes involved in building a new home. And although the series is instructive-Scott and Suzy never fail to define terminology or explain a technique-it is also entertaining with a changing cast of characters.

It is said that building a new home can be the single-most stressful event in a person's life. The American HomeShop proves that the right blend of planning, know-how, and patience can make the entire process not only survivable, but enjoyable as well.
